Our Puppy Pre-School Classes

Puppy Pre-School Class at Pascoe Vale Vet

Did you know that we hold two puppy pre-school classes at our clinic per week? Jenny Pearce who has trained with the Delta Society of Australia holds classes on Monday evenings from 6:30pm to 7:30pm. Our Nurse Abbey holds classes on Thursday evenings from 6pm to 7pm. Each class has 5 puppies attending and ideally puppies should be between the ages of 8 weeks and 12 weeks old.

Socialisation is one of the most important parts of training a puppy. Our classes aim to help each puppy master the basics of sit, stay and lie-down, as well as the more difficult (but definitely important) teachings of walking on a lead, toilet training and grooming. Nutrition, recall and release words, as well as teaching your puppy to go to their bed when asked, are also part of our classes.

Each class has 4 sessions that run over 4 weeks. By the second class, Abbey has said that she notices a big change in each puppy, as they are more comfortable and happy to be in the class and then by the 3rd and 4th class, the puppies absolutely love it and don’t want to leave. We definitely encourage this behaviour as it makes future visits to our clinic more enjoyable for everyone.

Watching your puppy grow and their confidence shine through is something that every new puppy owner should look forward to and we are more than happy to help you with your puppy’s learning journey at our puppy pre-school classes. Please give our reception a call on (03) 9350 2955 if you have any other further questions about our classes.
